The Waiting Game

It has been nearly a month since we found the home we want to live in. We know that short sales are rarely quick, but I will admit my patience is wearing thin. There has been absolutely no word from the bank. This means they probably haven't even found our offer packet. It is most likley in a large pile on someone's desk and hasn't been opened. As the buyer, we are forced to wait until they contact us. We can't write pleading emails and explain that we have already moved out of our last house and that we are depending on the kindness of family, friends and strangers for our lodging. We can't call and tell them that school starts soon and my kids' transition would be so much smoother if they could start school while living in their new house. And, we definitely can't deliver freshly baked cinnamon rolls and sweet talk our way into someone accepting our offer. But, believe me I would love to.

While playing this waiting game, however, we have had some great times. We took the kids to the Point Defiance zoo, the Puget Sound beach, Parkland Putters (miniature golf), and eaten at some yummy restaurants. This past week was magical because we got to act like a real family (live in the same house, eat dinner together, etc.) We are apart this week, but will spend next week together as well.

We have already been the recipients of great kindnesses in our new ward, including a Sunday afternoon meal and free lodging for next week while the Bishop's family is at a family reunion. My heart has been touched by these families who truly live the gospel and who are welcoming us with open arms. Years ago, I would have been hesitant to accept such generosities. But I have gained so much perspective and know that their service is God's love poured out on my family. How can I say no to that? So, dear friends - we are truly being cared for, loved and helped in this crazy journey.

Hey, do you think the bank would be impressed with virtual cinnamon rolls? Just asking.
